
The Secretaries General Meeting of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of the Turkic World (TÜRK-AY) Held Online
The Secretaries General Meeting of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of the Turkic World (TÜRK-AY), under the current term presidency of the Turkish Constitutional Court, was conducted online on 22 February 2024. The meeting was attended by the Turkish Constitutional Court’s Secretary General, Dr. Murat Şen, Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Yücel Arslan, and Director of International Relations, Mr. Fatih Çağrı Ocaklı.
The meeting, commencing with opening remarks by Dr. Şen, reviewed the activities carried out in 2023, highlighting their contributions to strengthening the platform and increasing its effectiveness. Additionally, plans were discussed to establish a TÜRK-AY Liaison Officers group, consisting of officials responsible for foreign relations from each member court, to facilitate and enhance communication.
The meeting also covered discussions on the application intended for submission, representing TÜRK-AY, to the World Conference on Constitutional Justice (WCCJ) for TÜRK-AY to be recognised as a member of the Bureau of the WCCJ, encompassing regional and linguistic international judicial associations.
The Azerbaijani delegation expressed its willingness to take over the presidency of TÜRK-AY for the next term, a proposal that was supported by other participants.
Evaluations were made regarding the membership application of the Supreme Court of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to TÜRK-AY.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of ideas about the activities planned for 2024.
